After disappearing and taking a hiatus from social media, Nicki Minaj blasted off her new singles “Barbie Tingz” and “Chun-Li” on Beats 1 radio on Thursday (Apr. 12). The Queen Barbz sat down with Zane Lowe for an hour-long interview, where she spoke on her much needed break from the public, finishing her long-awaited fourth studio album, Cardi B and the “Motor Sport” controversy, Quavo and his role in that record, Drake and more. During the live conversation, Lil’ Wayne and Birdman called in separately to surprise the Young Money triple-threat on what was dubbed “Nicki Day.”\
Speaking about her fourth solo album, the Queens-native reveals she’s been working on it since late last year. “I’ve been working on this album since December,” she tells Lowe, noting that some records were done nearly two years ago. “This is very important for people to know. Some songs were written a year-and-a-half ago. That’s important to know.” While the album-title is top secret Nicki says, “It fits everything that I am right now, where I am in my life.”
The 35-year-old also spoke on being in love with Meek Mill during his beef with Drake and the difficult position she was in. After call-ins from Lil’ Wayne and Birdman soon after, Nicki spoke on on their much-publicized legal woes and staying out of family issues since she is loyal to both Weezy and Baby.
